A fermentation bar will be part of the new Prairie Berry in Sioux Falls.

Prairie Berry Winery will hold a job fair this week for its Sioux Falls location, which is scheduled to open by early June.

Prairie Berry’s expansion will be next to Queen City Bakery in the Frank Transfer & Storage Building on East Eighth Street across from the 8th & Railroad Center.

Co-owner Matt Keck said plans are being finalized for the space, which will include a traditional bar area with seating, a retail area and an event room that will offer lunch.

An “epicurean bar” near the center of the space will offer appetizers and a sampling station for how to pair them with wine and beer.

“We don’t have a deep fryer, so it’s not bar appetizers, but we use a lot of different cheeses, goats’ milk, sheep milk, salamis, prosciuttos,” Keck said.

The lower level will include a lounge for Prairie Berry wine club members.

The job fair will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Holiday Inn City Centre, 100 W. Eighth St.

Full-time positions include a kitchen chef, administrative and accounting associate, wine club associate and retail floor lead position. Part-time jobs are available for retail associates and kitchen sous chefs and dishwashers.

The goal is to finish hiring by April, so employees can be trained before the opening in late May or early June.

Prairie Berry likely will hire six to eight full-time and 15 part-time employees, according to human resources manager Darcy Sales. More might be added as the business opens.A tasting bar will be part of the new Prairie Berry in Sioux Falls.
