St. Pepin & St Croix Grapes Arrived Today!

POSTED: SEP 08, 2009

The Crush Pad today at Prairie Berry! Our St. Pepin and St. Croix grapes arrived today from Lewis & Clark Vineyards near Yankton. If you've had either of these "saint" wines from Prairie Berry, you'll be as excited as we are that they've come marching in!

The photo at left was taken shortly before noon today (Sept. 8, 2009) and shows the forklift moving the grapes off the truck. You see one of our production associates on the ladder at right, manning the giant fork to move the grapes into the crusher-destemmer. Between the barrels (lower left) and the crusher-destemmer, is  our other production associate keeping an eye on the fruit and the stems as they are separated. The hose that snakes across the lower right of the photo is moving the grapes into the press, just inside the building, and that's where you would see our winemaker if the camera had x-ray vision! Come out and see us today (soon) for a closer look -- though you'll still need to step back from the orange cones for safety's sake!
